Police: Thieves tries to sell stolen laptop to owner’s co-worker

JOLIET — Police say two men picked the wrong place to try selling a stolen computer Sunday night — its owner’s place of employment.
Cmdr. Al Roechner said police were called around 9:30 p.m. by a woman’s whose residence had been burglarized and she knew where the thieves were.
“The victim had left her residence around 7:30 p.m. but had just gotten a call from a co-worker at United Liquors, 120 S. Larkin Ave.,” Roechner said. “The co-worker said two men had come in offering to sell a laptop computer, which looked a lot like hers.”
So much so that the employee called her co-worker, who then discovered her apartment had been broken into. Before police arrived, one of the men fled the store while Demetrius O. Nabors, 18, was held inside by employees, according to reports.
“The victim was able to identify the computer and log on using her password,” Roechner said.
Nabors’ vehicle reportedly held electronics and video games also taken during the burglary. Nabors, of 622 Gardner St., was booked into the county jail on charges of residential burglary and possession of stolen property.
A second suspect was being sought by police Monday.
