Sue Gillooley, vice president of the New Lenox School District 122 Board, resigned Monday, effective immediately, following recent news stories of a dispute with a woman who accused Gillooley of stalking her.
Gillooley, a board member for five years and a divorced mother of five, cited a desire to spend more time with her children in announcing her resignation, according to a District 122 spokeswoman.
“Sue Gillooley has worked hard alongside the board of education to help make our district successful. We respect her decision to resign from the board to spend more time with her family and certainly wish her nothing but the best,” board president Nick Di Sandro said in a statement.
A Will County judge on Thursday ordered Gillooley and Kathleen Jackson, who had accused Gillooley of harassing her, to stay at least 100 feet from each other for the next three months and directed Gillooley to stay away from Jackson’s New Lenox home and workplace.
In May, Jackson, the former girlfriend of a man who is dating Gillooley, obtained an order of protection against Gillooley, claiming that she was harassing Jackson and her four children.
The District 122 spokeswoman said the school board will seek to fill the vacancy within 45 days and will soon provide information on how interested persons can apply.
