Suspect sought in shooting that wounded four

JOLIET — Police are seeking a man in connection with a June 18 shooting that wounded four people.
Ian C. Warren, 29, is considered “armed and dangerous,” police said. Warren is 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs 160 pounds. He was last known to live at 900 Summit St.
At 11:58 p.m. June 18, a large group of people were gathered outside in the 1400 block of Englewood Avenue, reports said, when an assailant ran up and began firing.
Ruben L. Porter, 27, who is believed to have been the target of the attack, was shot in the stomach, back, arm and legs. It was initially believed he had been shot five or six times, but surgeons reportedly discovered almost a dozen rounds struck Porter.
“The cell phone in his pocket likely deflected two bullets that could’ve been fatal,” one officer said.
Porter was driven to Silver Cross Hospital by a friend and airlifted to Loyola Hospital in Maywood but is expected to survive.
An ambulance was called for Malikha Mills, 17, who was struck in the right leg. Katriel J. Walters, 26, who was shot in both legs, and Frederick. D. Myers, 20, who was struck in the arm, were also driven to the hospital by other people.
Chief Mike Trafton stated all of the victims were “uncooperative” with investigators.
A warrant charging Warren with aggravated discharge of a firearm and carrying a $1 million bond was issued Thursday. Police say Warren’s criminal history is “extensive.”
On July 2, 2000, Warren was arrested with two other men after shooting a woman while robbing Chuck E. Cheese on West Jefferson Street. He was sentenced to three years in prison.
He has also been convicted of aggravated battery to a police officer, delivery of narcotics and is currently on parole for dealing cannabis.
