7 years later, developer to complete Minooka subidivision streets

MINOOKA — Residents in Arbor Lakes subdivision finally will get their streets paved after seven years.
Developer Meadowbrook Homes will finish the work it started as part of an agreement with the village for approval to build 13 more single-family homes in the next phase of subdivision development.
Three roads in Arbor Lakes and a portion of a fourth have been in use with just the binder layer since they were laid. The streets are deteriorating and have pot holes and cracks, Village Administrator Dan Duffy said.
“We are working with Aladdin (Nassar) to get it fixed in those failing areas to complete the roads,” Duffy said.
Nassar, vice president of Meadowbrook Homes, said the company now has financial backing to complete the work.
“We didn’t have financial backing and momentum to do it in the past,” Nassar said. “If I want to sell more houses in Arbor Lakes, people want to see good roads and parkways.”
The roadwork also will include repair of curb and gutter problems.
The work is expected to be completed by mid-August. It would have been done sooner, but village engineers required boring samples to determine whether there were larger issues causing the cracking.
Nassar received a report on Tuesday indicating the base is solid, he said.
“That should allay those concerns,” Nassar said.
The village has been taking care of the streets, including plowing in the winter, and billing the developer, a practice that will stop once the roads are finished.
“This will bring the road up to where we need it to be,” Trustee Barry Thompson said.
