JOLIET — Police have arrested one man and are seeking another in connection with a gunfight that happened in a bar early Tuesday.

Around 12:30 a.m. two groups of men were sitting in Crow’s Nest, 1400 N. Center St., when they began fighting, throwing chairs and finally, shooting at each other. Two of the combatants were struck by bullets, but will survive their injuries. Police say the conflict appears to be gang-related.

Witness statements and video from surveillance cameras led police to identify two of the suspects involved, Cmdr. Brian Benton said.

Jose A. Reyes, 31, was arrested at 6:30 p.m. Thursday when he reportedly attempted to run through a police perimeter that had been set up in the neighborhood around his house, 1624 E. Washington St. Reyes was booked into the county jail on charges of aggravated battery, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm by a gang member and resisting arrest.

Police were also seeking Reginald D. Rogers, 20, on a $500,000 arrest warrant for aggravated discharge of a firearm. Rogers, whose last known address was 359 First Ave., remained at-large as of Friday afternoon.

According to records, Rogers turned 20 on Monday, and should not have been allowed in the tavern. Benton said investigators had alerted the liquor commission to the possible violation.

Anyone with information on Rogers whereabouts is asked to call detectives at 815-724-3020 or anonymously call CrimeStoppers at 800-323-6734.
