When Diesel Siegel arrives at his family’s farm on Weber Road, he can fully expect to be the only dog there. Sure, there are chickens and goats but he is the only dog.
Except for one day a year — Woofapalooza. And Diesel, a sweet and gentle Rottweiler, could not be a better host to this annual event.
Diesel genially and generously welcomed dog lovers and their objects of affection to the second annual Woofapalooza on June 10 at Siegel’s Cottonwood Farm, on Weber Road just north of Caton Farm Road.
There was more than plenty for both species to do — shop, wade in baby pools, hear educational talks about pampered pets or service dogs, browse informational booths, get a doggie massage or poochie teeth brushed, see Amber the rescue dog find a “lost” boy and contests of all kinds.
Proceeds from the event were given to Help Save Pets, an animal rescue group based in Plainfield. But it was a great day for many area rescue groups as they got a chance to get their name out and show off some of their buddies looking for a “forever home.”
Interesting to note were the out-of-town guests, coming from all over the Chicago area due to prior TV publicity. It shows a devoted owner will travel to treat his/her pet.
Cottonwood Farm is dog-gone sure that Diesel wasn’t the only pup who had a great day, and that he’s not the only pooch looking forward to next year’s event.
