Driver in fatal accident charged with DUI

Updated: August 24, 2012 6:12AM

A driver involved in a fatal traffic accident on July 14 in Plainfield now is being charged with felony aggravated driving under the influence.

State police said Sunday that Andrew Henderson, 24, of Palos Park was charged with DUI after an investigation into the accident in which he originally was charged with failure to reduce speed.

Ronald Oswald, 57, of Minooka was killed in the accident.

Oswald was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle that afternoon on Route 126 near County Line Road.

State police said Henderson’s Dodge Durango struck a Nissan Altima, which was stopped and waiting to turn left. The collision pushed the Altima into the eastbound lane and into Oswald’s motorcycle.

The driver of the Altima was Daniel Demartino, 30, of Plainfield. He and three passengers also were treated for injuries in the accident. Henderson suffered minor injuries, according to police.
