JOLIET — A 23-year-old man suffered serious head injuries in a dirt bike crash Monday night.
Police Cmdr. Al Roechner said the Joliet man and a 19-year-old friend were riding about 9:55 p.m. in the 1900 block of Timberline Trail. The motorcycles do not have headlights or license plates and are not street-legal.
“The witness said his friend was ahead of him when he lost control and hit the curb,” Roechner said. “He was ejected off the bike and struck his head on the pavement.”
The other rider called 911, and the injured man was taken to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition. According to reports, the 23-year-old man had been drinking alcohol before going for a ride and was not wearing a helmet.
The 19-year-old was ticketed for riding a dirt bike on a roadway, Roechner said.
