Shorewood car dealership to get new look

SHOREWOOD — A car dealership soon will have that new car feel.

The village board unanimously approved an amended site plan for Ron Tirapelli Ford that calls for installation of a new façade on its showroom building, 4355 W. Jefferson St. A new façade will increase the building’s height by four feet, and a new metal panel system will be installed.

Trustee Gary Fitzgerald, chairman of the planning and zoning commission, said the altered site plan allows the dealership to modernize the look of its building in keeping with Ford’s corporate design scheme.

The planning commissioners who first considered the site plan request “thought it was a nice upgrade” to the building and unanimously recommended its approval to the village board, Fitzgerald said.

An architect for the dealership said the upgrades will give the location a more polished look and feature a refined Ford logo.

The existing building was constructed in 1994.

In other business, the village board unanimously approved amendments to its Code of Ordinances to better define a “fueling station” and a “service station.” The amendment was needed after an individual approached the village about establishing a truck stop believing it was an allowed use as a fueling station under village code, officials said.

Fitzgerald said the change effectively prohibits truck stops or truck plazas.
