Updated: September 22, 2012 6:16AM

GRUNDY COUNTY — A Morris man has been charged with driving under the influence following a crash that killed an Ottawa woman early Sunday.

Chief Deputy Kevin Callahan said sheriff’s police were called at 1:20 a.m. after a 1997 Ford Mustang driven by Chad Marks, 33, was broadsided by a semi-tractor trailer on Route 6, a quarter-mile north of Longpoint Road.

According to reports, the Mustang was passing another vehicle when it lost control, went off the road, struck two trees and bounced back into the path of the truck.

Marks’ girlfriend, Brittany L. Judy, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene. Coroner John Callahan reported Judy had been wearing a seatbelt.

Marks was taken to Morris Hospital and later airlifted to Peoria but is expected to survive. He has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and the state’s attorney is reviewing other charges, Kevin Callahan said.
