Requests for absentee ballots being accepted

JOLIET — Requests for absentee ballots by mail for the Nov. 6 General Election are now being accepted, Will County Clerk Nancy Schultz Voots announced.

Registered voters can request an absentee ballot via the county clerk’s website at www.thewillcountyclerk.com or by calling the office at 815-740-4632 or 815-774-6367.

To receive an absentee ballot, the office will need the voter’s name, address of residence, mailing address and date of birth at the time of request.

The first day by law ballots can be mailed is Sept. 27. The last day by law an absentee ballot can be requested or mailed is Nov. 1.

In-person absentee ballots will be offered at the clerk’s office from Sept. 27 through Oct. 20 and also on Nov. 5. Voters must show a valid government-issued photo ID.

The Will County clerk’s office is at 302 N. Chicago St. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The office will be closed Oct. 6 and Oct. 8 in observation of Columbus Day.
