While only a fraction of the 341 video gambling outlets are ready to begin operating, the state is testing machines. Izzy’s in Joliet is one of eight test sites in the final weeks before the state allows video gambling to start for everyone who has a license and the machines. For six hours Wednesday, the five machines at Izzy’s were busy “the whole time,” said owner Alfonso “Izzy” Izquierdo.
