Stars take to the Emmys red carpet in bold colors

Where’s there’s a red carpet, there’s a celebrity factoring the fashion risks of color.
The 64th Emmy Awards sartorial pregame offered at-home critics the chance to see the fall trends in technicolor. From strong colors — oxblood, seafoam green, orange sherbet and many shades of yellow — to body-contouring sequins, stars left their best LBDs (long black dresses) hanging in their closets for another night.
With her champagne gown, “Mad Men’s” Christina Hendricks referenced an earlier era — not the ’60s — rather than vintage Madonna from her “Material Girl” video. Heidi Klum channeled her inner Farrah Fawcett, with flowing locks and a plunging seafoam green dress.
Three celebs opted for varying degrees of yellow: “Homeland’s” Claire Danes wore Lanvin, Julie Bowen from “Modern Family” chose a close-to-neon Monique Lhullier and Julianne Moore went for a long-sleeved mustard yellow Christian Dior gown. But vintage bordeaux won the evening as Mayim Bialik, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jena Malone and Kat Dennings brought the fall’s most popular color to the forefront.
