HOMER TOWNSHIP — A single-vehicle crash claimed the life of a 16-year-old Homer Glen teen Tuesday night.
Will County police said Jay Vana was found partially underneath a pickup that had left the road and rolled over. Vana, who had been a passenger, was ejected from the vehicle.
He was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, where he was pronounced dead.
Will County deputies were called at 8:38 p.m. to Lauffer and Haas roads. Upon arrival, a 16-year-old male from Lockport was found yelling for help.
Initial investigation from Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division reported that it appears the truck attempted to turn south onto Haas Road and lost control.
The driver was also transported to Silver Cross with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said there was no indication drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. The driver told police a deer came out of the field and he lost control when he swerved to avoid it.
