Morris man dies in Grundy crash

MORRIS — A crash Tuesday afternoon claimed the life of a Morris man.
Michael D. Durkee, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene at 3 p.m., Grundy County Coroner John Callahan reported.
Authorities said Durkee was eastbound on Pine Bluff Road, approaching a curve, when his vehicle suddenly went into the westbound lane and struck a semi truck head-on.
Callahan reported it is not yet known what caused Durkee’s vehicle to swerve.
The crash is under investigation by Callahan and the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department.
