Police Blotter: Police seeking young man tied to shooting

Updated: November 20, 2012 10:49AM

PLAINFIELD — Police have allegedly identified one of the gunmen who forced his way into an apartment and shot a man in August.

Ryan M. Beattie, 20, is being sought on charges of home invasion, aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a firearm and residential burglary. An arrest warrant carrying a $1 million bond was issued Oct. 12, records show.

Around 1:15 a.m. August 14, police were called to an apartment building in the 24000 block of West Main Street after three men entered a unit and demanded money.

Two of the men were masked and two were armed with a semi-automatic handgun and a shotgun, witnesses reportedly told police.

A struggle ensued between the six people staying in the apartment and the three offenders and the intruders fled. One man chased them into the vestibule where another struggle occurred and he was shot once. The injury was not life-threatening and police said the robbery was not random, but the residents had been targeted by their attackers.

Sheriff’s records list Beattie’s last known address at 708 Winterberry Drive.
