Lockport man sentenced to 30 years for Joliet arson

JOLIET -- A west suburban man was sentenced to 30 years in prison Thursday for setting his girlfriend’s daughter’s bedroom on fire after a fight.
Judge Daniel Rozak sentenced Adrian Blalock to 30 years in prison after he was convicted of arson, according to the Will County State’s Attorney’s office.
Blalock, of the 400 block of East 9th Street in Lockport, was convicted in June of starting a fire at his girlfriend’s Joliet apartment, a release from the state’s attorney’s office said. He has a long criminal history that includes two previous arson convictions.
On May 12, 2011, Blalock returned to his girlfriend’s home in the 1100 block of North Broadway after an argument, the release said. He entered the apartment when nobody was home and set the young girls’s bedroom on fire.
He left his own young daughter sitting alone in a car while he went in to set the blaze, according to prosecutors.
No one was injured, but the fire caused more than $100,000 in damage to the four-unit apartment building, the release said.
