Joliet grandmother wins $200,000 on lottery ticket

Jaruth Tumbling was in the car when she used a lucky penny to scratch her Seasons Winnings instant ticket.
“I thought I won $20,000, then my daughter checked the ticket and told me I won $200,000. I couldn’t believe it,” she told Illinois Lottery staff when she claimed her $200,000 prize.
Tumbling has lived in Joliet since 1945. Her plans for the winnings include donating to her church and sharing with her two daughters, eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
“This lottery win will help some of my great-grandchildren go to college,” Tumbling said.
The winning ticket was purchased at Shell, 710 E. Cass St.
The store will receive a $2,000 bonus, 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket.
Season Winnings is a $5 instant ticket with a top prize of $200,000.
