Jury selection began Monday in the trial of an Elwood man accused of killing his fiancee’s daughter.
Lee K. Ponshe, 29, was charged with murder in connection with the 2009 death of 18-month-old Halli R. Burton, the daughter of a woman he met online who had moved into his home three days before.
The pair were engaged, but Ponshe was not the baby’s father.
On April 15, 2009, the girl was taken to Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet and pronounced dead at 8:05 p.m. from blunt force trauma to the head.
