A 16-year-old Homer Glen girl was killed in a traffic crash Saturday afternoon in Lockport.
At 4:16 p.m. Jacalyn Rudd was driving a black 1998 BMW east on 167th Street when she approached Cedar Road, Police Chief Dave Draksler said. At the intersection Rudd’s car collided with a southbound 2000 Ford F-250 driven by a 49-year-old Mokena man.
According to reports, Rudd was extricated from her vehicle by Homer Township Fire Protection District personnel and transported to Silver
Cross Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the pickup was not injured and neither vehicle had passengers.
“There is no indication that alcohol was a factor in the crash,” Draksler said.
The accident closed the intersection until 9 p.m. as investigators worked the scene.
Draksler said further details and statements from witnesses are being withheld pending further investigation. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning.
Rudd was a junior and member of the pom team at Lockport Township High School.
