New Lenox VFW event to benefit vets, troops

The Harry E. Anderson Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9545 will host an After New Year’s Eve Party — “Blues, Beer and BBQ” Jan. 5
The fundraiser is to help veterans in the community and nursing homes and hospitals. Some of the proceeds raised will be used to send care packages to deployed troops in Afghanistan.
Festivities begin with dinner served from 5 to 7 p.m. Menu includes grilled pork chop, salad, baked potato, baked beans, vegetable and dessert. All food is provided by Ladies and Men’s Auxiliary of Post 9545.
There will be door prizes, 50/50 raffles, cash bar and drink specials.
Advanced sales only for our dinner package. Cost is $15 per person.
Entertainment, featuring the T-Bird Huck Band, will be from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. The donation for “music only” will be $5.
To purchase tickets go to VFW Post 9545 Canteen between noon and 10 p.m.
Tickets also may be purchased at the weekly Friday Night Fish Fry or Tuesday Night Bingo Nite.
