JOLIET — The Joliet City Council ballot is set for April 9.
A lottery to determine ballot position put Councilman Don Fisher first.
Fisher’s name will be followed by Jim McFarland, Michael Turk, Jan Quillman, John P. Gnutek and David Piekosz.
The lottery was held Thursday morning for the five candidates who were at the city clerk’s window at the same time waiting to file on the first day petitions could be submitted. Piekosz filed Wednesday.
Ballot position is determined by the order in which candidates file petitions. A lottery is held for the sought-after first spot on the ballot when multiple candidates are first in line.
Turk and Quillman are incumbents in the election for three at-large council positions.
