A former Minooka High School board member was appointed to fill a four-month vacancy on the district board.

Patti Ruettiger, who previously served on the high school board from 2005 through 2009, was appointed recently to fill the seat vacated by Debra Warning. Warning resigned after winning a seat on the Grundy County Board in the November election.

Ruettiger will serve the remainder of Warnings’ term, until reorganization of the board in May.

Five seats on the board will be open in the April election. Two seats must be filled with high school district residents residing in an unincorporated area.

Following the meeting, Ruettiger said she is running for one of the board seats.

“I thought this (appointment) would be a good opportunity for me to get back in here,” Ruettiger said. “If I win, I am already prepared to serve.”

The board had three candidates interested in the appointment and interviews were held prior to selection of Ruettiger.

Also running for the open seats are Mike Brozovich and Sherry Schmidt for an unincorporated seat and Charles Hiscock, Jennifer Miney, Wendi Arlis and Michelle Mullen. Incumbents Douglas Kaufman and Chris Kobe are both running for re-election.

Current board members Jeff Wunderlich and James Butterbach are not seeking re-election.
