HOUSTON — Authorities in Texas say three people have been wounded in a shooting at a Houston-area community college.
Harris County Sheriff’s Maj. Armando Tello says three people had been wounded and a person of interest has been detained.
The shooting took place Tuesday at the Lone Star College System campus about 20 miles north of downtown Houston.
A college official says the campus has been placed in lockdown.
Aerial footage from local television stations shows emergency personnel attending to some people on stretchers and at least one being taken into an ambulance. Others can be seen running from a building led by officers.
Jed Young, spokesman for the Lone Star College System campus in north Harris County, said a shelter-in-place order has been issued.
The Lone Star College System has an enrollment of 90,000 students and six college campuses, according to its website. Its North Harris campus is about 20 miles north of downtown Houston.
