PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP — An injured dog caused a brief traffic jam Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 55.

State Police Master Sgt. Martez Malone said a passing trooper saw the animal about 12:15 p.m. in the northbound lanes near milepost 255 south of Route 30.

The dog was turned over to a Joliet Animal Control officer, who was already looking for it in the area, according to reports.

State police did not know how the dog was injured.
