New Lenox Triple Play tickets bring in bucks at auction

Updated: March 15, 2013 1:21PM

The New Lenox Triple Play concert tickets that ordinarily cost $200 for four were auctioned for $1,300, $325 a ticket, on Saturday at the annual Lincoln-Way Dinner Gala, Trustee Nancy Dye told the New Lenox Village Board on Monday.

Mayor Tim Baldermann donated four tickets to each of the three concerts, along with backstage passes.

“We sat there in awe (during the live auction),” Trustee Annette Bowden said. “We were so excited.”

Typically, the Triple Play series is a $50 ticket for all three concerts. New Lenox residents have first shot during a pre-sale at that price. The general public can purchase any remaining tickets at $60 each.

Revenues from Saturday’s auction benefit the Lincoln Way High School District 210 Foundation for Educational Excellence.

Bands have not yet been announced for the 2013 concerts. Last year, performers included Heart and Styx.

Rental agreement

New Lenox has taken another step toward making the Village Hall more accessible to the community. Trustees approved renewing a rental agreement with the New Lenox Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber will continue to pay $900 a month. The fee covers the cleaning services.

Baldermann said they did not want to increase the cost in order to keep the chamber’s monies going back to local businesses.

Administrator Kurt Carroll said having the chamber rent space is what the village had in mind when it built the hall. The village wants the community to have access to the hall.

Fire raffle

The New Lenox Fire Foundation will host a Save A Life Raffle. Tickets cost $10 each. First prize is $5,000.

“It’s so important that the citizens here support this raffle,” the district’s President Roy “Skip” Minger said. “Every nickel that the foundation gets goes back to the citizens here.”

Funds raised are earmarked for life-saving cardiac monitors for emergency vehicles.

The drawing will be at noon on March 3. Second prize is $1,000 and third prize is $500. Tickets can be purchased at New Lenox Station One, 261 E. Maple, between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. For information, call 815-463-4500.
