Man charged in double slaying gets March 8 court date for underage drinking

When Will County Judge Ray Nash last saw Adam Landerman in court in December, the 19-year-old had been charged with traffic and underage drinking charges in Plainfield.
Landerman pleaded guilty to underage drinking and Nash required him to perform three drug tests and to watch the movies “To Kill a Mockingbird” and “A Few Good Men” before he returned to Plainfield ordinance court for sentencing on the charge.
But Landerman wasn’t in Plainfield for his return visit on Wednesday.
Instead, he was one of four people arrested on Jan. 10 in a double homicide on Hickory Street in Joliet.
Nash acknowledged Landerman’s incarceration on Wednesday and scheduled the sentencing on the underage drinking charge to 10 a.m. March 8 in the Will County Courthouse.
“Mr Landerman has a right to be sentenced in front of me,” Nash said.
At that time, the Plainfield ordinance violation cases could be consolidated with the murder case, said Plainfield prosecutor Joan Meyers.
It’s up to the judge at that time to decide whether the sentencing will go forward or it will wait until the homicide charges are resolved, she said.
Landerman was charged with murder in the Hickory Street case along with Joshua Miner, 24; Alisa Massaro, 18; and Bethany L. McKee, 18. All four have pleaded not guilty to the charges and their bail was set at $10 million. They are being held in the Will County Jail.
Police were called to 1121 N. Hickory St., where they found the bodies of Eric Glover, 22, and Terrance Rankins, also 22. Authorities say the suspects continued to party after the men were killed; and when police arrived, Landerman, Massaro and Miner were playing video games. McKee had left before police arrived but was picked up by authorities in Kankakee, police said.
Landerman, the son of Joliet police Sgt. Julie Larson, has other legal troubles as well.
He was ordered to submit to a DNA test in a paternity lawsuit brought by a Lockport woman who claims Landerman is the father of her 9-month-old daughter. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday in that case.
