Authorities have arrested a Joliet man for allegedly running an elaborate pot growing operation out of his home, according to a New Lenox Police Department press release.
Ehren Meintel, 27, of 510 Park Drive, Joliet, was charged with possession of cannabis over 5,000 grams, unlawful production of cannabis, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon, and not having a valid firearm owner’s ID card, according to the release. Meintel was being held at the Will County jail, pending a bond hearing.
Authorities say they found about 150 pot plants, and pot growing equipment, including lighting, fans and fertilizer. They also found a dozen guns, according to the release.
New Lenox police obtained a search warrant based on information they gathered while investigating a different drug case in the village, Police Chief Bob Sterba has said.
Tuesday morning, Will County Sheriff’s police assisted New Lenox police in serving a search warrant at the house.
