BOLINGBROOK — An elementary school was put on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after a man tried forcing his way inside, police said.
The 40-year-old Lockport man was suffering from a medical condition when he tried opening several doors at Liberty School, 1401 S. Essington, about 4:20 p.m., police said.
Lt. Mike Rompa said staff members followed protocol by putting the building on full lockdown, and responding officers were able to detain the man, who was taken to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital for an evaluation. Rompa said the unarmed man’s car was towed from the campus for investigative purposes.
Detectives located the man’s roommate and found further details on the man’s medical condition after searching the residence, Rompa said.
