Anti-abortion protestors held signs displaying both fetuses and babies at area intersections Friday.
The Pro-Life Action League’s “Face The Truth” event had supporters at Larkin Avenue and Jefferson Street and Caton Farm Road and Route 59 in Joliet and Route 59 and Black Road in Shorewood. Protestors also handed out literature to passers-by.
Executive Director Eric Scheidler said about 50 local volunteers helped staff members hold signs during the morning protests. The intersections are recommended by local supporters based on traffic volume and chosen after the staff evaluates nearby parking and safety options.
“It’s been a very smooth day. The police have made sure everyone is respecting our right to do this,” Scheidler said. “We’ve had some passing drivers making rude gestures and many others showing support.”
Protestors will be in Aurora and Naperville on Saturday and downtown Chicago early next week.
