JOLIET — Joliet City Councilwoman Susie Barber’s health seemed to be improving, a colleague said Wednesday.
“She sounded much stronger,” said Councilman Michael Turk, who talked with Barber on the phone Wednesday morning.
Turk said Barber hoped to leave Silver Cross Hospital soon. She was taken there by ambulance after Monday’s council meeting when she appeared to be getting very weak. She since has been taking a series of tests at the hospital.
Barber told The Herald-News last week she was not feeling well and was tired when explaining why she recently resigned from the Housing Authority of Joliet board, where she was chairwoman.
Barber also said she planned to stay on the city council.
