Two men, one of whom is from Romeoville, and three teen boys, have been charged with shooting two men late Tuesday in Chicago’s South Chicago community.
Christian Ortiz, 29, of the 2000 block of Rosehill Court in Romeoville, and Jesus Quintana, Jr., 27, of Chicago, were charged with aggravated battery and discharge of a firearm, police said, and boys ages 14, 15 and 16 face the same charges. The teens, whose names were not released, were turned over to juvenile authorities for processing, police said.
The five are charged in two shootings about a minute apart late Tuesday. The first happened about 10:50 p.m. when a 23-year-old man was shot in the arm in the 2700 block of East 87th Street, a police spokesman said.
The second shooting was about three blocks away, where a 21-year-old man was shot in an arm and his neck as he stood on a porch at 88th Street and Escanaba Avenue, police said.
They said the two victims were taken in “stable” condition to area hospitals.
