By this time next year, Casey’s General Store at 400 W. Mondamin St. in Minooka is expected to be twice the size it is now.
“That’s what they tell us their plans are,” Village Administrator Dan Duffy said at Tuesday’s village board meeting.
The board approved a final plat for Casey’s Retail Co. that includes its purchase of the Wash N Roll Car Wash property at 308 W. Mondamin St.
Both buildings eventually are to be torn down, and one larger facility will be built. More gas pumps also will be installed, Duffy said.
Casey’s Retail Co. has 1,759 corporate stores nationwide, including one in Minooka and one in Channahon.
Demolition should begin this fall on the car wash building, with the Casey’s store remaining open until the majority of construction work starts in the spring, Duffy said.
“Hopefully (it will) be fully operational this time next year,” he said.
The village board also:
Approved low bidder D.E. Thompson for the village’s snow removal contracts.
Approved low bidder D Construction to remove and replace sidewalks that are considered dangerous or have other issues, at a cost of $26,520.
Approved low bidder Fields of Caton Farm to replace 85 dead or dying trees in village parks and parkways at a cost of $20,575.
Also, Deputy Clerk Missy Felker swore in Staci Kapinus of Elwood as a Minooka police officer. Kapinus majored in criminal justice and will attend training for 10 weeks, Police Chief Justin Meyer said.
