JOLIET — Mayor Tom Giarrante will present his first State of the City address from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 28. The event will be hosted by the Joliet Chamber of Commerce at the Autobahn Country Club, 795 CenterPoint Way. The cost is
$30 for chamber members and $40 for nonmembers. Online

Cross hands out
business award
PLAINFIELD — State Rep. Tom Cross, R-Oswego, presented January’s Ovation to Business award to Sweet Pea Children’s Boutique & Have to Have in Plainfield.
The business is owned by Jennifer Potrawski and is at 24041-24043 W. Lockport St. Potrawski serves on the board for MainStreet Plainfield, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the historic and financial health of the downtown. Mayor gives awards across community
ROMEOVILLE — During the annual State of the Village address, Mayor John Noak presented awards to the following:
Lewis University was named Large Business of the Year. Fat Ricky’s was named Small Business of the Year. The Volunteer of the Year Award was given to Christopher Benigno. He is junior vice commander of the American Legion 11th District Department of Illinois, commander of the American Legion Romeoville Post 52 and a member of the Romeoville Veterans Commission. The Citizen of the Year Award was given to Shirlee Pergler. A Romeoville resident for more than 50 years, Pergler remains active in the Downtown Committee, the Library Referendum Committee and the Golden Age Club.
