Elsie — the iconic Gas City cow that’s been a fixture in Frankfort since the late 1970s — has been moo-ooved. The big, plastic cow that adorned the headquarters of the bankrupt gas station chain on LaGrange Road in the southwest suburb originally was perched on the roof of the company’s first gas station, on Chicago’s Southwest Side, then was moved to company headquarters, where it remained until this week, according to Billy McEnery, son of Gas City founder William J. McEnery. The company’s bankruptcy case was wrapped up Monday, and Elsie, as “personal property,” was moved by flatbed truck to the elder McEnery’s home in Homer Glen, his son said.
