Dealership gives help to food pantry

Updated: November 6, 2012 6:21AM

MORRIS — Talty Chevrolet employees recently filled We Care’s pantry.

The car dealership donated $650 and provided volunteers to help unload 4,034 pounds of food that was ordered from Northern Illinois Food Bank.

“Our whole staff lives and works in Grundy County, so we see the benefits of We Care and what a great job they do for our community,” said Ken Talty of Talty Chevrolet.

During the month since the last Fill the Pantry, We Care has helped 230 families from its food pantry.

In addition to the food purchased with donations, the food pantry also receives food that is provided for free as part of the Emergency Food Program.

Upcoming Fill the Pantry sponsors include LyondellBasell and Morris Hospital. If your organization is interested in sponsoring a Fill the Pantry date in 2013, call the We Care office at 815-942-6389.

We Care is a nonprofit that provides emergency assistance to Grundy County residents in the form of food, rent, utility and prescription assistance.
