Breifcase: Surgery practice

MORRIS — Dr. Heather Wakefield has opened a general surgery practice in Morris and Channahon. She is a graduate of Rush Medical College in Chicago and a residency program at University of Iowa. A native of Bolingbrook, Wakefield began her undergraduate education at Joliet Junior College. Her offices are at: Morris Hospital Ridge Road Campus, 27240 W. Saxony Drive, Channahon; and the Morris MedClinic across the street from Morris Hospital, 151 W. High St.

Joins staff

PLAINFIELD — Plainfield Chiropractic at 15104 S. James St. has added Dr. Christopher Smith to its staff. Smith, a longtime resident of Plainfield, received his undergraduate degree from Eastern Illinois University and a doctorate in chiropractic medicine from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard. He has assisted in the treatment of athletes at Northwestern University, DePaul University and Benedictine University and he is a licensed acupuncturist.

Lawmakers honored

PLAINFIELD — State Rep. Tom Cross, R-Oswego, and U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Channahon, both received the Guardian of Small Business Award from the National Federation of Independent Business/Illinois for their support of the small business community. The organization’s mission is to promote and protect the right of members to own, operate and grow their businesses.
