Timbers marks anniversary

SHOREWOOD — The Timbers of Shorewood is celebrating 10 years. At 1100 N. River Road, The Timbers is an independent- and assisted-living rental community with 186 one- and two- bedroom apartments built as an alternative to nursing home care. It also is a communal center for groups and organizations from the public sector. William DeWoskin and Manny Kramer built and own The Timbers, which serves clients ranging in age from 62 to over 100.

BOLINGBROOK — The Promenade Bolingbrook Shopping Center recently launched a new multimedia website. To promote the new site, Promenade Bolingbrook has offered new members an opportunity to win prizes including an IKEA patio set, a NOOK with accessories and a $75 gift card. Penn garners award

CHICAGO — Penn National Gaming Inc. has received UnitedHealthcare’s 2012 Apex Award. The gaming and racing company, which operates Hollywood Casino Aurora and Hollywood Casino Joliet, won the award for its Wellness Works program, a comprehensive health and wellness offering that helps its employees eat healthy, exercise and lose weight. The program, created in 2010, includes health dining, a “Biggest Loser” competition and smoking cessation programs.
