Colarelli elected president of Lockport chamber

LOCKPORT — Newly elected officers for the Lockport Chamber of Commerce are President Pete Colarelli, CITGO; Vice President Preston Lewis, Farmers Insurance; Treasurer Michael Valek, STE Corp.; and Secretary Bill Byerley, PageDesk Internet Development. Andy Coyle, The Coyle Law Office, is past president.

Board members are Barb Mullin, Standard Bank; Gregg Bickus, Bickus Plumbing; Eric Gort, Heritage Pizza; Ryan Sharp, Edward Jones Investments; Steve Streit, Oh! Postal Service workshop

JOLIET — The U.S. Postal Service will offer a “Grow Your Business Day” one-hour workshop on using direct mail at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Joliet Post Office, 2000 McDonough St. Attendees also will learn about the postal service’s new Direct Mail Hub website. State of Channahon address

CHANNAHON — Mayor Joe Cook will give his state of the village address at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 14 at the Three Rivers Environmental Education Center, 25055 S. Walnut Lane. The cost is $20 per person. Big earnings for Will County

JOLIET — Will County Treasurer Steve Weber’s office earned $1.76 million in interest on the county’s investment portfolio in Fiscal Year 2012, nearly five times the amount anticipated in the county’s budget.

“The county’s total cash and investments had a market value of $331 million at the end of our fiscal year,” Weber said, “We have beaten the benchmarks we use to measure performance for 20 consecutive months.”
