Company to expand in move from Channahon to Minooka

Metal Stamp Inc. will relocate from its facility in Channahon to a new building in Minooka by the end of this year.
The company, currently on Northern Illinois Drive in Channahon, will build a 50,000-square-foot facility in the Minooka Industrial Park on Serena Court.
“They couldn’t come to a lease agreement with the current location,” said Minooka Village Administrator Dan Duffy.
Minooka trustees recently approved both the preliminary and final plat of the subdivision.
The Channahon facility being leased by Metal Stamp is 42,000 square feet and it will be building larger for future expansion, Duffy said.
Duffy worked with the Grundy Economic Development Commission to secure the standard three-year tax abatement for Metal Stamp.
The company expects to hire an additional five people over the next couple years.
Metal Stamp is a tool and die manufacturing company; about 90 percent of its business is in circuit boards for automobiles.
“They should (start) building midsummer, their goal is to be under roof by the end of the year,” Duffy said.
Community center
Construction to create a larger community room for use by residents could happen as early as summer, if project designs are within the village’s budget.
Trustees recently approved architect Gregory Norris to design the meeting hall.
The village purchased the remaining portion of the strip mall, which houses the police department and village staff, in August 2010. A community room was always a part of the plan.
The east of end of the building, formerly NAPA Auto Parts, is planned for the community room, restrooms and a kitchenette in 4,500 square feet of space. An additional 2,000 square feet is planned for additional offices space for the future.
