Nurses at St. Joseph’s hospital in Joliet join union

St. Joe’s nurses join union
JOLIET — Nurses working in the Ambulatory Surgery Center at Provena Saint Joseph’s Medical Center voted earlier this month to organize as a union under the direction of the Illinois Nurses Association. INA has been representing nurses at Provena since 1993.
The 11-to-7 vote means that INA will soon begin negotiations on a contract with the nurses and management of the Surgery Center. The Surgery Center has three operating rooms and two procedure rooms.
Business After Hours scheduled
The Forest Preserve District of Will County will host Business After Hours for the Bolingbrook and Naperville Chambers of Commerce from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Whalon Lake on Royce Road in Naperville. The free event allows members to build business-to-business relationships, network and socialize. Live entertainment and light refreshments will be available. For information, call 815-722-1289.
‘Chiropractor plans ‘Dinner with Doc’
PLAINFIELD — Chiropractor Kristy Carbonelli will host “Dinner with Doc” from 7:30-9 p.m. Tuesday at Limestone Brewery, 12337 Route 59. The event is to discover more about chiropractic.

Charming Charlie boutique opens
JOLIET — Charming Charlie, a fashion accessory boutique, opened Thursday at the Westfield Louis Joliet mall.
Charming Charlie’s selection of accessories includes handbags, sunglasses, apparel, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, scarves, belts, rings and select apparel.

Berkot’s sets grand opening
LOCKPORT — Berkot’s Super Foods will hold a grand opening July 28 for its Lockport store, 500 Summit Plaza.
The 38,000-square-foot store will be the company’s second largest and feature expanded produce, meat and bakery departments and a large craft beer department.
The doors open at 9 a.m., and the first 100 customers in the store that morning will win a free bag of groceries. On July 29, the first 100 people through the doors when the store opens at 9 a.m. will receive a $20 Berkot’s gift card.
Berkot’s operates 13 stores including outlets in Manhattan, Mokena, New Lenox and Peotone.
Joliet chamber group to host event
JOLIET — The Joliet chamber’s education committee will sponsor chamber night and back to school night at Silver Cross Field on Aug. 10. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
Tickets prices have been reduced to $5 by the Joliet Slammers — half the normal game price. Tickets are available only at the chamber office, 63 N. Chicago St.
Individuals or companies that purchases 25 or more tickets will receive a table at the game to use for information setup, display, etc., public address and video board recognition. Tables are limited.
Businesses also are needed to purchase 25 or more tickets to be distributed to children and youth who can’t afford to buy tickets. Distribution will be through social service agencies that work with children and youth. Send a check or stop by the chamber office to help.
Sterr named inside sales manager
Debbie Sterr of Joliet has been named inside sales manager at Marmon/Keystone LLC’s Chicago office. She began working for Marmon/Keystone in 1992 as an accounting clerk and has since held positions in accounting, data processing, branch information and inside sales.
Sterr received her bachelor’s from Eastern Illinois University, and has been a member of the Mar/Key Club three times for making over $1 million in annual gross sales.
Knitting store opens in Morris
MORRIS — Kelly Norby has opened Le Mouton Rouge Knittery, a retail knitting and crochet store, in downtown Morris.
The store will provide yarn, needles and notions as well as knitting and crochet classes, parties and other events. The store will host a Stitch Night every Thursday from 7-9 p.m. Crochet classes will begin in September. The Illinois Small Business Development Center at Joliet Junior College helped Norby with planning, market research and financial analysis.

Morris hospital names new manager
MORRIS — Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers has named Cassie Brown of Morris as the new manager of health information management. Brown will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of medical records, including overseeing medical record completion and maintenance, coding and filing.
Brown has a long history with Morris Hospital, having worked as a file clerk in the medical records department while attending Morris High School and Joliet Junior College. She also held the position of medical records coordinator before taking a few years off to spend time with her children.
A graduate of Illinois State University with a bachelor’s in health information management, Brown also has experience as medical records director at the Dwight Correctional Center and cancer registrar at Rush-Copley.
ATI acquires 15 Indianapolis clinics
BOLINGBROOK — ATI Physical Therapy is expanding into another major metropolitan area with the acquisition of 15 clinics in Indianapolis. Advanced Physical Therapy, a private practice with a 26-year history, has joined ATI Physical Therapy effective July 1. Kim Kollwelter has been promoted to vice president of operations to lead the Indianapolis clinics.
ATI has opened or acquired 34 new clinics in 2011 and plans to open six more in the next few months. ATI now operates 134 clinics in six states: Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania.
Jersey Mike’s to open in Bolingbrook
BOLINGBROOK — Jersey Mike’s Subs will open its first store in Bolingbrook next week. Jersey Mike’s owners Raj Patel and Jason Corriveau celebrated the grand opening on Wednesday.
The new restaurant, 214 N Weber Road, hosted a five-day fundraiser through today, with proceeds supporting the Bolingbrook Park District. Anyone who has a fundraising coupon can get a free regular size sub with a minimum $1 contribution. More than 10,000 coupons are being distributed throughout the community.
Cinema to reopen in Promenade
BOLINGBROOK — Gold Class Cinema will reopen July 29 as an iPic Theater at The Promenade in Bolingbrook. The company offers reserved stadium seating with unobstructed views. Premium plus seating offers reclining chairs, pillows and blankets, popcorn and in-cinema service for the first 20 minutes. Premium seating offers extra comfortable large leather chairs with small tables for eating in-cinema.
