Here is a look at entertainment news including “This American Life” on the big screen in Naperville, Elgin and Joliet; Mayweather-Cotto in Elgin and Joliet; and Music by the Lake tickets on sale for performances on the shores of Lake Geneva.
‘This American Life’ on the big screen
Fans of the critically acclaimed public radio show “This American Life” will be able to catch a special live simulcast at theaters in Naperville, Elgin and Joliet at 7 p.m. May 10.
Host Ira Glass will present “This American Life — Live!” from the Skirball Center at New York University. The show will feature stories by writers David Sedaris and David Rakoff, comedian Tig Notaro and Snap Judgment host Glynn Washington. Together they will perform a live stage version of the radio show, centered on the theme “The Invisible Made Visible.”
The performance will also feature a new short film by Mike Birbiglia, live music by the rock band OK Go, a dance performance by Monica Bill Barnes & Company, original animation and illustration, and special surprise guests.
The broadcast can be seen at the AMC Naperville 16 in Naperville, the Marcus Elgin Fox Theater in Elgin, and the Cinemark in Joliet.

Mayweather-Cotto in Elgin, Joliet
The Marcus Elgin Fox Theater in Elgin and the Cinemark in Joliet will broadcast the anticipated fight between boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather and WBA super welterweight world champion Miguel Cotto on May 5 at 8 p.m.
“Ring Kings: Mayweather vs. Cotto,” will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Mayweather (42-0, 26 KOs) is a seven-time world champion and will step up in weight to take on Cotto (37-2, 30 KOs). Rounding out the card, young superstar Canelo Alvarez squares off against six-time world champion Sugar Shane Mosley.
Tickets are $20 at the Elgin Fox Theater, and $18 for adults, $17 for seniors and $16 for children at the Cinemark.

Music by the Lake tickets on sale
Tickets for the 12th season of the Music by the Lake summer music series are now on sale. The season includes the main stage series, with four Saturday evening performances; the Sundays at 4 series, featuring two performances; a family and children’s concert; and the season finale Pritzker Spotlight Concert, featuring Cheap Trick.
Main-stage performances include Steve Lippia and his 16-piece orchestra in “Simply Sinatra” on July 7; The Four Freshman and The Letterman on July 14; the musical “Music in the Air” on July 21; and a specially adapted concert version of the musical “Million Dollar Quartet” on Aug. 11. Performances will be held in The Ferro Pavilion located on the shores of Lake Geneva at George Williams College.
