‘Faculty Idol’ event

LEMONT — Lemont High School’s speech team will host “Faculty Idol 6” at 7 p.m. Friday in the school’s Performing Arts Center.

The event will pair students and staff members in a musical competition, and the money raised will benefit the school’s speech program.

Performances by as many as 10 faculty-student duets or groups will be featured. The event’s competitors also will include the school’s Deaf and Hard of Hearing program, which will perform with a combination of dancing and signing.

The line-up includes two-time (2008, 2010) Faculty Idol champion and music teacher Matt Doherty, 2007 Faculty Idol winner and Career and Technical Education Chairman Ken Ferry, mathematics teacher Ashley Good and English teacher Phil Lazzari.

Tickets cost $7 and can be purchased in advance online at https://secure2.ticketguys.com/LemontHighSchool/Attractions.ashx.

Memory walk scheduled

MINOOKA — The Minooka High School chapter of the National Honor Society will host a fundraising walk called “A Walk in Memory 5K” from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday on the limestone path behind the Central Campus, at 301 S. Wabena Ave.

Donations will help fund the development of a Minooka Community High School Memorial Garden at Central Campus.

Once completed, this garden will be a special place where the community can celebrate the lives of classmates who have passed on too soon.

The rain date for the event is April 15.

Road to Reality slated

LOCKPORT — Lockport Township High School and the Lockport Township High School Foundation will present the annual Road to Reality program from 6-8:30 p.m. April 19. in the Lockport Township High School East Campus cafeteria, at 1333 E. Seventh St.

The Road to Reality will consist of different scenes showing the choices available to teens regarding underage use of alcohol and/or use of drugs and the potential physical, emotional and legal consequences of those choices.

Co-sponsors are the Lockport Township Fire Protection District, Silver Cross Hospital, the Will County coroner’s office, Illinois State Police District 5, the 12th Judicial Circuit Court, the Lockport Police Department, Steriotis Auto and the Will County Sheriff’s Crime Prevention Unit.

It is recommended to arrive no later than 7 p.m. to assure a departure time. The event is open to parents and their students in grades 5-12 who reside in the district.
