Mokena sets pet parade and contests

MOKENA — The Mokena Park District’s A Bark in the Park and Pet Parade will be held from 1-4 p.m. May 20 at the Main Park Picnic Grove, located at 10925 LaPorte Road.

Admission is free.

The schedule for the event is as follows:

1-1:30 p.m.: Registration for the parade.

1-2 p.m.: Registration for dog contests.

1:30 p.m.: The parade will be held, with prizes awarded for best dressed, most exotic, most original and the smallest and largest dogs.

2 p.m.: Jim Nesci’s “Cold Blooded Creatures” show.

2:30-4 p.m.: Dog contests will be held, including best tail-wagger, a hot dog relay, the most obedient and ultimate Frisbee catch.

All dogs who participate must be on a leash and all vaccinations must be current.

A Bark in the Park is sponsored in part by Chiro One Wellness Centers, Banfield Pet Hospital and PetSmart.
