After watching a 10-minute video honoring her family, Jodie Adler held onto the arm of her husband Joe as she stepped up to the podium to speak during Joliet Catholic Academy’s 27th annual Jubilaté.

“Oh my, you made me cry,” Adler said, wiping away tears. “Such a buildup. It feels like the Academy Awards. We are so humbled by our love of God, love of the school and our love of the JCA community.”

Surrounded by 40 family members, Joe and Jodie Adler received the JCA Recognition Award. “March Madness” was the theme of this year’s Jubilaté, but truly, the Saturday night event was one of giving.

The largest donation of Jubilaté went toward iPledge to take learning to the next level — JCA’s Wi-Fi and Hallway Lighting campaign. This infrastructure improvement is the fundamental foundation for moving forward with future technology for students and faculty, including the installation of Wi-Fi on campus.

JCA has received a significant donation of high-efficiency lighting. Along with the installation of the Wi-Fi system, new hallway ceilings are being redone at the same time. The benefits have been obvious already as the project continues, with the donation at Jubilaté helping significantly for the completion.

Eleven live auction items and 225 silent auction items were up for bid to 450 attendees at the Bolingbrook Golf Club.

Jubilaté proceeds go entirely toward JCA’s operating budget, which will directly benefit students at the Roman Catholic college preparatory high school for boys and girls.

Former state Sen. A.J. Wilhelmi served as master of ceremonies, and the invocation was given by the Rev. John Welch (class of 1956). George and Donna Barr and Pete and Kristy (Juricic 1978) Pluth were honored as the chair couples. The 53 volunteer committee members also were recognized.

“This annual fundraising event is such a fun night and it brings the JCA family together to celebrate their school,” said Christine Voss, JCA’s special events manager. “Through the efforts of our parents, alumni and generous donors, JCA students for years to come will derive the benefits of a faith-filled education.”
