Ellis house family fun night: From 4-7 p.m. the first Friday of every month at Ellis House and Equestrian Center, 13986 McKanna Road in Minooka, visitors can enjoy pony rides ($3 per ride or $5 for two rides); a tractor-pulled hay ride; a movie; a bonfire; face painting; nature trails; crafts; and concessions. Smart dogs for kids: At 6 p.m. May 9 the Shorewood-Troy Public Library, 650 Deerwood Drive in Shorewood, will hold this fun, interactive class that will include dog safety, obedience techniques, teaching tricks and how to play and interact with dogs in a safe, healthy way. This class will also teach you how to build a foundation for your dog to learn anything you want him or her to learn.
