Church hosting chorus concert

PLAINFIELD — The Plainfield Area Community Chorus will share popular patriotic favorites at 2 p.m. Saturday at Plainfield Congregational United Church of Christ, at 24020 W. Fraser Road.

The concert will feature the Thomas Jefferson Elementary School choir under the direction of Karen Blair.

Tickets cost $5 in advance or $7 at the door. There will be a reception following the concert. Visit the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/groups/130248663768/.

Group visiting shrine

PLAINFIELD — St. Mary Immaculate Church will sponsor a pilgrimage to The Shrine of Christ’s Passion in St. John, Ind.

Built in 2001, the journey consists of 40 life-size bronze statues.

The trip will start at 8:30 a.m. May 26 in the St. Mary Immaculate parking lot. Motor coach transportation will be provided, with the return to St. Mary’s by 4:30 p.m.

To secure your seat on the bus, stop at the table in the Commons after morning Masses on May 6 and 13. The cost is $20 per person. A box lunch can be pre-ordered at a cost of $10 each. Admission to the shrine is free.

Annual musical Saturday

JOLIET — Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church, 1502 Mills Road, will hold its annual Trustee Day Musical from 4-6 p.m. Saturday featuring the Brown Chapel A.M.E. Mass Choir. Special guests will be Burtis Sisters and Burtis Boys from Kankakee.
