Fundraiser set to help young girl

Updated: May 23, 2012 8:05AM

JOLIET — A 2-year-old girl named Alexandria was born April 13, 2010, with juvenile pilocytic astrocytoma, a benign tumor. It was diagnosed when she was 10 months old.

Doctors said that it was a slow-growing tumor, but it did not turn out that way.

As of March 12, Alexandria had her 10th surgery and more are to come. She has had six seizures and two strokes, the latest one massive. She has spent more time in the hospital more than she has spent at home.

A fundraiser for Alexandria will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the community room at The Park Tower, 247 Caterpillar Drive.

The event will feature live music from Fender Benders at noon, food, prizes, raffles.
