Homemakers group holding meeting

JOLIET — The Will County Homemakers Education Association Annual Meeting will be May 8 at the Farm Bureau Building, 100 Manhattan Road.
Registration is from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Billy’s Catering will provide lunch, and a variety of pastries will be provided by Fleckenstein’s Bakery in Mokena.
In keeping with the state theme, Garden of Volunteers, a master gardener will present a program that will have those in attendance wanting to get out their garden tools and dig right in with their spring planting.
The annual business meeting, a memorial service for deceased members, a presentation by members of a local 4-H Club and the recognition of units with paid-up dues are some of the planned activities.
Marilyn Daughtetee, state president of the Illinois Association for Home and Community Education, will install the newly elected 2012-13 officers.
The event is open to the public, but reservations are suggested.

The Will County Homemakers Education Association is an organization of local women who meet monthly throughout the county. At the monthly meetings, lessons are received from the University of Illinois and given to local units by an educator.
Lessons range from gardening to cooking, as well as citizenship, and health-related topics.
