Two competing in pageant

ROMEOVILLE — Melissa Romero and Candace Brand, both of Romeoville, were selected to participate in the 2012 Chicago pageant competition
June 3. They submitted applications and took part in interview sessions conducted by the Chicago pageant coordinator.

Both will compete in modeling routines, which include casual wear and formal wear. They also will display their personality and interviewing skills.

If either were to win the title, she would represent Chicago at the national competition in Orlando, Fla.

Longtime teachers retiring

MORRIS — Diane Sprole, Immaculate Conception School preschool teacher, will retire after 20 years. She began the preschool program at the school in 1992.

Carol Robinson is celebrating her 40th year at ICS. During all those years, she’s worked with kindergarten students.

An open house honoring the two will be 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Art teacher Joe Corsello has been chosen the winner of the Dolly Parton Chasing Rainbow Award to Recognize Outstanding Teachers. He will be provided with a trip to Dollywood in June to receive this recognition.
